Who is Mr J and
why are we supporting him
Mr
J was born in San Diego in 1964. He was raised in
Poway where he attended public schools until tenth grade.
When he was 16, he graduated from high school by passing
the California High School Proficiency Exam and earned an
equivalent to high school diploma.
At
that time (16 to 19), he went to work full-time doing
various kinds of construction work.
When Mr J was 20, through his church, he went to Chile to
work with the local people improving living standards and
conditions. He was required to learn Spanish.
Mr
J married Sydney when he was 23. They have four
children, who range in age from 7 to 15. Two girls
and two boys.
For five years, from 23 to 28, Mr J owned a a Carpet and
Upholstery Cleaning franchise.
After five years of being a business owner, Mr J enrolled
in college full-time. He graduated at age 32 from
UCSD and received a bachelors degree in history with
departmental honors and with distinction. (GPA 3.85)
During this time (in 1995) he received a full-ride
scholarship to Harvard University, Ashkelin, Israel
Archaeology Summer program. He earned 12 units (GPA
4.0)
In
July 1998, Mr J was credentialed by California CLAD
Multiple Subject Teaching Credential.
Mr
J attended National University for his graduate education.

M.ED. Master of Cross Cultural Education; graduated Jan
2000 (3.978 GPA)
M.S. Master of Science in Educational Technology;
graduated July 2003 (3.85)
He
worked at Toler Elementary as a a teacher from August 1998
until he was dismissed on January 17, 2003.
Until he was dismissed, Mr J made many notable
contributions to the school. He was actively
involved in making a positive educational impact on all
children at the school...and making the school the best it
could be. Many
messages
to the website refer to the Dino Dig and Mr J's tireless
work with the computer network.
When Mr J was at Toler, the teachers were undefeated in
the end of the year Fifth Graders Against the Teachers
Softball Game. 2003 was the first year the fifth
graders won and the victory was bittersweet, since they
knew they only won because Mr J wasn't there.
