Who is Mr J and why are we supporting him

Mr J was born in San Diego in 1964.  He was raised in Poway where he attended public schools until tenth grade.  When he was 16, he graduated from high school by passing the California High School Proficiency Exam and earned an equivalent to high school diploma.

At that time (16 to 19), he went to work full-time doing various kinds of construction work.

When Mr J was 20, through his church, he went to Chile to work with the local people improving living standards and conditions.  He was required to learn Spanish.

Mr J married Sydney when he was 23.  They have four children, who range in age from 7 to 15.  Two girls and two boys.

For five years, from 23 to 28, Mr J owned a a Carpet and Upholstery Cleaning franchise.

After five years of being a business owner, Mr J enrolled in college full-time.  He graduated at age 32 from UCSD and received a bachelors degree in history with departmental honors and with distinction.  (GPA 3.85)

During this time (in 1995) he received a full-ride scholarship to Harvard University, Ashkelin, Israel Archaeology Summer program.  He earned 12 units (GPA 4.0)

In July 1998, Mr J was credentialed by California CLAD Multiple Subject Teaching Credential.

Mr J attended National University for his graduate education.  These are his degrees:

M.ED. Master of Cross Cultural Education; graduated Jan 2000 (3.978 GPA)
M.S. Master of Science in Educational Technology; graduated July 2003 (3.85)

He worked at Toler Elementary as a a teacher from August 1998 until he was dismissed on January 17, 2003.

Until he was dismissed, Mr J made many notable contributions to the school.  He was actively involved in making a positive educational impact on all children at the school...and making the school the best it could be.   Many messages to the website refer to the Dino Dig and Mr J's tireless work with the computer network.

When Mr J was at Toler, the teachers were undefeated in the end of the year Fifth Graders Against the Teachers Softball Game.  2003 was the first year the fifth graders won and the victory was bittersweet, since they knew they only won because Mr J wasn't there.
